*Museums with a piece of the action. Press release:
“In October of last year, the MoMA in New York became the site of an unprecedented guerrilla art exhibit. Using Augmented Reality (AR) technology, a handful of artists planted two and three-dimensional art throughout the museum that could be viewed with smart phones.
“The Exploratorium’s After Dark: Get Surreal (February 3, 6-10 pm) is featuring new applications of this revolutionary AR technology: Researchers at the University of Tokyo will be offering After Dark goers a chance to taste a Meta Cookie. A visual and olfactory display system alters the texture and smell of what you perceive so that even though you’re eating a plain cookie, you’ll think you’re chomping on a strawberry, maple, orange or chocolate-covered delight (see more at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GnQE9cCf84).
*Did you get that? Augmented gustatory and olfactory Reality! Smell-O-Vision, here we come!
“After Dark: Get Surreal will also serve as the unveiling of AR works by the Exploratorium’s own Rob Rothfarb: AR markers throughout the museum allow visitors using their iPhone or Android phones to become part of Magritte and Man Ray paintings. (((Man Ray A-OK for AR apps any time!)))
