Architecture Fiction by Richard Hardy

These are some really good vids, love the style

via Beyond The Beyond by Bruce Sterling on 8/11/10

*This first one is a veritable visual casebook of Gothic High-Tech overwhelmed by Favela Chic.

THE ECO-COMMUNE from Richard Hardy on Vimeo.

*Hardy’s other effort is considerably more freaked-out, and comes across like a mash-up of Archigram and Next Nature.

THE TRANSCENDENT CITY from Richard Hardy on Vimeo.

*It’s so much fun to watch architecture fiction that one has to wonder why there wasn’t a ton of architecture fiction forty years ago (when everyone was high on drugs and really would have enjoyed it). The answer is in bandwidth economics, barriers to entry and search costs. Architecture fiction can thrive now because you and I are doing all this blogging and surfing; that energy is what enables the viral survival of efforts like this.
